glut·tony ('gl&t-nE, 'gl&-t&n-E)

Restless and forever hungry, Gluttony nestles in the spirits of the ambitious. It lives to eat, but its hunger is not based on physical necessity. The act of consuming is intoxicating to it, and given the chance it strives to devour everything in its path.

With its hands bound behind it like a competitor in an eating contest, Gluttony does not devour its prey with the remnants of its ruined mouth. A great, gaping maw yawns open at the center of its emaciated chest, drawing in prey in an attempt to fill a deeper void: a great emptiness in the pit of its soul. Gaining nothing, it continues to waste away, ever desiring more yet deriving no satisfaction.

Gluttony is commonly perceived as a vice of the obese, but it is much more than that. Gluttony thrives in the souls of all those who seek to consume beyond their needs, who feel that they can fill the voids in their lives with objects and conquests. And Gluttony is a beast that gnaws as it grows, eating away at us, cheapening our victories when they come. Gluttony is a powerful sin, infecting people, companies... even nations.
